When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: When there is a need for a tie break where two different addresses are the same distance from the school, in the case of a block of flats for example, the lower door number will be deemed nearest as logically this will be the ground floor and therefore closer. If there are two identical addresses of separate applicants, the tie break will be random. Every child entered onto the HCC admissions data base has an individual random number assigned between 1 and 1 million against each preference school. Where there is a need for a final tie break the random number is used to allocate the place with the lowest number given priority.
Within each of the 7 categories, the following sub-provisions apply in order: (i) exceptional social, medical or pastoral need evidenced at time of application; (ii) attendance of a brother or sister at the school at time of enrolment; (iii) children of staff employed 2+ years or recruited to fill a demonstrable skill-shortage vacant post. Twins and siblings from multiple births will, where logistically possible, be admitted even if this exceeds PAN when one sibling is the last child ranked within PAN.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
