When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Priority will be given to children living closest to the school determined by the shortest distance. Distances are calculated on the basis of a straight-line measurement between the front door of the child’s home address (including the community entrance to flats) and the main entrance of the school using Hertfordshire County Councils computerised measuring system... If there is a need for a tie break where two different addresses are the same distance from a school, in the case of a block of flats for example, the lower door number will be deemed nearest... If there are two identical addresses of separate applicants, the tie break will be random... a final tie break the random number is used to allocate the place, with the lowest number given priority.
Within each category, sub-priority given first to exceptional social/medical/pastoral/other need (with compelling professional evidence), then to children with a brother/sister attending the school at time of enrolment. EHC Plan children admitted first (see note 1) but not numbered within the oversubscription list.
