Bushey Meads School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Children looked after / previously looked after — Children looked after and children who were previously looked after, including those who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England, and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted or became subject to a child arrangements order or a special guardianship order.
2. 2Trust primary feeder schools — Children attending a primary school within the Bushey St James Trust (Little Reddings Primary School and Hartsbourne Primary School).
3. 3Children of staff — Children of staff, both teaching and non-teaching and both full and part-time at the school where the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, or the member of staff recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage. This will include children of staff not living at the same address as the member of staff, and children of a partner living at the same address as a member of staff.
4. 4Sibling currently at school — Children with a brother or sister already at the school and still expected to be at the school when the transfer takes place.
5. 5Former sibling — Children who have a brother or sister who attended the school in the past two years or who currently attends but who will have left by the time the transfer takes place.
6. 6Compelling medical reason — Children who have a compelling medical reason attested by a Medical Practitioner or Consultant, which makes attendance at Bushey Meads School essential.
7. 7Proximity — Any remaining places will be allocated by proximity to the School using the home-school measurement system. A 'straight line' distance measurement is used, measured using a computerised mapping system to two decimal places, from the AddressBase Premium address point of the child's house to the address point of the school.

If two applications tie: Where a final tie-break is needed where two different addresses measure the same distance from school, in the case of a block of flats for example, the lower door number will be deemed nearest as logically this will be on the ground floor and therefore closer. If there are two identical addresses or distances of separate applicants, both will be offered a place in order that neither applicant is disadvantaged.
