St Mary's Priory Catholic Infant School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Catholic looked after/previously looked after children — Catholic 'looked after' children and previously 'looked after' children. (see notes 2 & 3)
2. 2Catholic children with sibling at school — Catholic children who have a sibling at the St Mary's Priory Infant school or St Mary's Priory Catholic Junior school at the time of admission. (see note 3)
3. 3Other baptised Catholic children — Other baptised Catholic children. (see note 3)
4. 4Other looked after/previously looked after children — Other 'looked after' children and previously 'looked after' children. (see note 2)
5. 5Catechumens and Eastern Christian Church members — Catechumens and members of an Eastern Christian Church. (see notes 4 & 5)
6. 6Non-Catholic children with sibling at school — Non-Catholic children who have a sibling at the school at the time of admission.
7. 7Other Christian denominations — Children of other Christian denominations whose membership is evidenced by a minister of religion. (see note 6)
8. 8Children of other faiths — Children of other faiths whose membership is evidenced by a religious leader. (see note 7)
9. 9Any other children — Any other children.

If two applications tie: Priority will be given to children living closest to the school determined by the shortest distance. Distances are calculated by the Local Authority... measured in a straight line from the ordnance survey address point for the child's home, to the ordnance survey address point of the school. If two or more applications are received from the same block of flats, the applicant with the lower door number will be classed as the nearest and offered a place... In the event of distances being the same for two or more children where this would determine the last place to be allocated, random allocation will be carried out by the local authority's computerised allocation system.

Within each numbered category, two further provisions apply in order: (I) exceptional social, medical or pastoral need moves an application to the top of its category; (II) attendance of a brother or sister at the school moves an application to the top of its category after (I). The school will, where logistically possible, admit twins and siblings from multiple births where one child is the last ranked within PAN.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
