Ark Burlington Danes Academy

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked After Children / previously looked after — ‘Looked After Children’ and children who have previously been a ‘Looked After Child’ but immediately following this became subject to adoption, a child arrangements order or special guardianship order, including those who appear (to Ark Schools) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.
2. 2Children of staff (skill shortage) — Children of staff at the school where the member of staff has been recruited to a post where there is a demonstrable skill shortage. Ark Schools must approve the Principal’s assessment process and designation of such posts to confirm the staff members’ eligibility under this criterion. Priority will be limited to one place for each form of entry in any year (e.g. 6 places in each 6-form year group).
3. 3Siblings — Children who, at the time of admission, have a sibling who attends the school. For this purpose, “sibling” means a whole, half or step-sibling or an adopted child resident at the same address.
4. 4Children attending Church of England primary schools in named boroughs — Up to 25% of the remaining places will be allocated to children who attend Church of England primary schools in the London Boroughs of Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster (a full list of schools is given in appendix 1). Where there are more applications in this criterion than places, priority will be given to those who live closest to the school using straight-line distance from the main entrance of the academy to the main entrance of the child’s home.
5. 5Named feeder primary schools — Up to 25% of the remaining places will be allocated to children who attend one of the following three feeder schools: Ark Bentworth Primary Academy (URN 138680); Ark Conway Primary Academy (URN 137331); Ark White City Primary Academy (formally Ark Burlington Danes Primary Academy and formally Ark Swift Primary Academy) (URN 139820). Where there are more applications in this criterion than places, priority will be given to those who live closest to the school using straight line distance from the main entrance of the academy to the main entrance of the child’s home.
6. 6Children of staff (2+ years employed) — Children of staff in the school who have been employed at the school for two or more years at the time the application is submitted. Ark Schools must approve the Principal’s decision to allocate places to staff under this criterion. Priority will be limited to one place for each form of entry in any year (e.g. 6 places in each 6-form year group).
7. 7Distance — Distance measurement – Priority will be given to those children who live closest to the school. The Local Authority measures distance on behalf of Ark Schools. London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham use a geographical measuring system and Ordnance Survey Data to calculate straight line distance between the child’s home and the main entrance to the school. If applicants share the same address point (for example, those who live in the same block of flats or shared house) priority will be given to those who live closest to the ground floor and then by ascending flat number order. Routes will be measured to four decimal places (if necessary).

If two applications tie: If Ark Schools is unable to distinguish between applicants using the published oversubscription criteria, places will be offered via a random draw which will be supervised by someone independent of the school.

Document contains an internal inconsistency regarding the Year 7 PAN: Section 1 states 'Secondary (Year 7): 120' while Section 3.1(iv) states 'The school has an agreed PAN of 180 in Year 7' — PAN left null due to this conflict. The school is described as a Church of England secondary school, but no explicit faith-practice (e.g. clergy reference/attendance) criterion is listed among the ordered oversubscription criteria; criterion iv relates to attendance at CofE primary schools in named boroughs, and a full appendix list of those CofE primary schools is provided separately from the three named 'feeder schools' in criterion v.
