Wimbish Primary Academy

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after and previously looked after children — Children In Care, sometimes known as Looked After Children and previously looked after children (as defined in the Primary Education in Essex 2027/2028 booklet).
2. 2Sibling link — Siblings of pupils already attending the school at the time of admission.
3. 3Children of staff — Children of staff.
4. 4Children living in the priority admission area (PAA) as shown on the Essex County Counci… — Children living in the priority admission area (PAA) as shown on the Essex County Council website, in this order: a. Children living at the Carver Barracks. b. Children living elsewhere in the PAA.
5. 5Any other children — All other children, ranked according to the distance* between their home and the school. If a tie-break is necessary to determine which child is admitted, the child living closest to the school measured in a straight line will be given priority for admission.

Read 2026-09-12 from Primary Education in West Essex Directory 2027/2028, page 81. Essex prints every school's admission policy, published admission number, applications received and the criterion under which the last child was admitted, two schools to a page. In 2026 the last child was admitted under criterion 4. CORRECTION 2026-09-13: this row was written on 12 September with the right admission number, notes and source but an empty rule list — every rule came out blank. The rules below were re-read from the same published document. The school was matched to its block in the directory by its DfE number 2770, page 81.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
