When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after and previously looked after children — Places will first be given to children who are looked after by a local authority and to children who were previously looked after, including children who were previously looked after outside England, but ceased to be so because they were adopted or became subject to a child arrangements order or special guardianship order. A looked after child is a child who is in the care of a local authority or is provided with accommodation by that authority (see section 22 of the Children Act 1989). Any application submitted for a child who is looked after by a local authority should be supported by the authority’s Children’s Services Department. An ‘adopted child’ is a child adopted under the Adoption and Children Act 2002 or Adoption Act 1976. A ‘child arrangements order’ is an order made under the terms of the Children and Families Act 2014. Section 14A of the Children Act 1989 defines a ‘special guardianship order’ as an order appointing one or more individuals to be a child’s special guardian (or special guardians). 2. 2Catchment area — Places will next be given to children who live in the school’s designated catchment area. Information about catchment areas can be obtained from the School Admissions team or from the school. The child concerned must be resident in the catchment area by 9 January 2027 to qualify under this criterion for the normal secondary admissions round.
3. 3Sibling — Places will next be given to children who will have a sibling attending the school in years 7-11 at the time of admission. 76
4. 4Feeder school — Places will next be allocated to children who attend one of the school’s named feeder junior or primary schools. Attending a feeder school does not guarantee a child a place at the secondary school.
5. 5Distance from the school — Places will next be given to those children who live closest to the school. The distance from the child’s home to the school will be measured and priority will be given to those living nearest to the school. If the measurement of the distance from home to school above does not distinguish between two or more applicants with equal priority, random allocation will be used as the final tie-breaker and independently verified according to the Council’s protocol on random allocation. Once all applicants have been prioritised in accordance with these admission arrangements, decisions about which children will be given places at the school will be made in accordance with the co-ordinated scheme or schemes for school admissions applicable to the applicant concerned. 5. Admission of Transgender Pupils to a Single-Sex School 5.1 Purpose This guidance outlines the approach regarding the admission of transgender pupils to a single-sex school, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 and relevant statutory guidance. 5.2 Legal Context Under Schedule 11 of the Equality Act 2010, single-sex schools are permitted to restrict admissions based on sex. However, the admissions authority recognises that
