Woldgate School and Sixth Form College

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after and previously looked after children — Places will first be allocated to children who are looked after by a local authority and to children who were previously looked after including (i) those who ceased to be looked after as they were immediately adopted or became subject to a child arrangements order or special guardianship order; and (ii) those who were in state care outside of England and ceased to be following adoption.
2. 2Children of staff — Places will next be allocated to children of members of staff of the school. The member of staff must have been employed by the school for two years or more at the time the application for admission to the school is made or have been recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
3. 3Trust feeder school attendees — Places will next be allocated to children who attend a Trust feeder school (Melbourne Primary School, Pocklington Junior School or Stamford Bridge Primary School). Attending a Trust feeder school does not guarantee a child a place at the secondary school.
4. 4Catchment area residents — Places will next be allocated to children who live in the school's designated catchment area. The child concerned must be resident in the catchment area by 9 January 2027 to qualify under this criterion in the normal secondary admissions round.
5. 5Siblings — Places will next be allocated to children who will have a sibling attending the school in Years 7-11 at the time of admission.
6. 6Named non-trust feeder school attendees — Places will next be allocated to children who attend a named non-trust feeder junior or primary school. Attending a non-trust feeder school does not guarantee a child a place at the secondary school.
7. 7Proximity to school — Places will next be allocated to those children who live closest to the school. The distance from the child's home to the school will be measured and priority will be given to those living nearest to the school.

If two applications tie: If the measurement of the distance from home to school above does not distinguish between two or more applicants with equal priority, random allocation will be used as the final tie-breaker, and independently verified.

Trust feeder schools (criterion iii) are Melbourne Primary School, Pocklington Junior School, and Stamford Bridge Primary School. Non-trust feeder schools (criterion vi) are Barmby Moor CE Primary School, Bishop Wilton CE VC Primary School, Bugthorpe CE VC Primary School, Fangfoss St. Martin's CE Primary School, Sutton upon Derwent CE VC Primary School, Warter CE Primary School, and Wilberfoss CE VC Primary School. Within each criterion, children are ranked by subsequent criteria in order (distance). Waiting list held until 31 December 2027.
