Meadow Farm Community Primary School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after and previously looked after children — A 'looked after child' or a child who was previously looked after but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, child arrangements, or special guardianship order. A looked-after child is a child who is (a) in the care of a local authority, or (b) being provided with accommodation by a local authority in the exercise of their social services functions (see the definition in section 22(1) of the Children Act (1989).
2. 2Children previously in state care outside England — Children who appear to the Council to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted. A child is regarded as having been in state care in a place outside of England if they were accommodated by a public authority, a religious organisation, or any other provider of care whose sole purpose is to benefit society.
3. 3Catchment area children with siblings at the school — Children who are both living in the catchment area served by the school and have brothers or sisters* of compulsory school age still attending the school at the time of their admission.
4. 4Other catchment area children — Other children living in the catchment area.
5. 5Out-of-catchment children with siblings at the school — Children who do not live in the catchment area served by the school but who have brothers or sisters* of compulsory school age still attending the school at the time of their admission.
6. 6Church school – religious grounds — In the case of church schools, children whose parents request a place on religious grounds as stated on their application form.
7. 7Other children whose parents requested a place — Other children whose parents have requested a place.
8. 8Late applicants — Children whose parents did not request a place by the closing date.

If two applications tie: When choices have to be made between children satisfying the same criteria, children living nearest to the school measured by a straight line have priority. The line will be measured from the centre of the home address to the school using the national Ordnance Survey set points. If the two measurements are the same, we will give priority to the child living nearest the school measured by the shortest walking route from the home address to the school's main entrance. In the unlikely event the two walking routes measure the same distance, the place will be allocated using an independently verified random allocation process. The 'home address is the address of the primary carer of the child, as shown by who receives the Child Benefit.

These are the oversubscription criteria for Derby City Council's maintained community schools only. Individual PANs are listed separately for each school. Sibling definition: having one or both natural parents in common, being related by a parent's marriage, or who are adopted or fostered; brothers and sisters must be living at the same address. The document also covers the coordinated admissions scheme for 2027/2028 for all Derby City schools including academies, free schools, VA and foundation schools, but those schools determine their own individual admission arrangements.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
