Looked After Children — A ‘looked after child' or a child who was previously looked after but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, child arrangements, or special guardianship order including those who appear [to the admission authority] to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted. A looked after child is a child who is (a) in the care of a local authority, or (b) being provided with accommodation by a local authority in the exercise of their social services functions (see the definition in Section 22(1) of the Children Act 1989); 2. Siblings — A child is considered in this category if a sibling is attending the academy at the time of application and will continue to do so at the time of admission i.e. at the start of the new academic year, and where the child lives at the same address as the sibling. Priority is not given if the sibling attends a nursery unit linked to the academy; 3. Any other children not categorised above. The school offers 30 places at this entry point. Tie-break: If an academy is oversubscribed within any of the oversubscription criteria, the determining factor will be the distance from the child’s home address to the academy (priority being given to the shorter measurement)... If two or more children with the same priority for admission live an indistinguishable distance from the academy, but cannot both be admitted, then the places will be decided by the drawing of names from a hat, and this will be independently overseen and verified by a governor or Academy Governance Committee member from another school.
