When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Foundation place 1 of 10 — A child who is looked after, or previously looked after;
2. 2Foundation place 2 of 10 — A child who is baptised, or of a baptised parent/carer, who attends a Church in Wales service on a weekly/fortnightly basis and has done so for, at least, the past five years;
3. 3Foundation place 3 of 10 — A child who is baptised or dedicated, or of a baptised or dedicated parent/carer, who attends a Christian denomination, other than the Church in Wales, service on a weekly/fortnightly basis and has done so for, at least, the past five years;
4. 4Foundation place 4 of 10 — A child who is baptised, or of a baptised parent/carer, who attends a Church in Wales service on a weekly/fortnightly basis and has done so for, at least, the past two years;
5. 5Foundation place 5 of 10 — A child who is baptised or dedicated, or of a baptised or dedicated parent/carer, who attends a Christian denomination, other than the Church in Wales, service on a weekly/fortnightly basis and has done so for, at least, the past two years;
6. 6Foundation place 6 of 10 — A child who is baptised, or of a baptised parent/carer, who attends a Church in Wales service on a monthly basis, or occasionally, and has done so for, at least, the past year;
7. 7Foundation place 7 of 10 — A child who is baptised or dedicated, or of a baptised or dedicated parent/carer, who attends a Christian denomination, other than the Church in Wales service on a monthly basis, or occasionally, and has done so for, at least, the past year;
8. 8Foundation place 8 of 10 — A child who attends a place of worship, other than Christian, on a weekly/fortnightly basis and has done so for, at least, the past two years;
9. 9Foundation place 9 of 10 — A child who attends a place of worship, other than Christian, on a monthly basis, or occasionally, and has done so for, at least, the past year;
10. 10Foundation place 10 of 10 — A child who belongs to a faith community which does not meet any of the above criteria.
11. 1Community place 1 of 5 — A child who is looked after, or previously looked after;
12. 2Community place 2 of 5 — A child, who has a sibling of statutory school age at The Bishop of Llandaff, at the time of admission;
13. 3Community place 3 of 5 — A child who attends a Church in Wales school;
14. 4Community place 4 of 5 — A child who attends a faith-based school, other than Church in Wales; and
15. 5Community place 5 of 5 — A child who attends a community school within the city of Cardiff who wishes to receive a faith-based education.

If two applications tie: Proximity refers to the distance measured by calculating the miles from the school post code to the parent(s)/carer(s) home post code. The school use Google Maps to calculate home to school 'walking' distance in miles to the nearest decimal place.

IMPORTANT — this school operates TWO SEPARATE ranked lists, not one. The published admission number is 180 in Year 7: 150 places are reserved as 'Foundation' (children considered at 'the heart of the Church') and 30 places are reserved for children within the 'Community'. Each list is ranked 1..n independently and applicants are considered against the list for the place type they are seeking; 'community' is a fixed number of open places and does NOT refer to any geographical location. Faith commitment refers to worship attended on either Saturday or Sunday; worship attended as part of a primary school experience and/or non-formal worship (e.g. 'Messy Church') does not apply. Where the school is named in a statement of special educational need and/or Individual Development Plan, governors have a duty to admit the child. Applicants must complete BOTH the Council's School Admissions Portal preference AND the school's own form (www.bishopofllandaff.org/195/admissions); failure to complete both within the designated timeframe will result in a place not being offered. The policy Cardiff prints for 2027/28 entry is the school's 'Admissions and Oversubscription Policy (2024)', with a stated Date for Review of Autumn 2026.
