When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Priority will be given to children living closest to the school determined by the shortest available walking route. Distances are calculated using the local authority’s GIS computer programme or such other programme as may be used by the local authority from time to time, which will measure the distance from outside the entrance to the property to the nearest official school entrance.
Within each of the categories listed above the attendance of a brother or sister at the school at the time of admission will increase the priority of an application within each category so that the application will be placed at the top of the category in which the application is made. The admission authority will, where logistically possible, admit twins and all siblings from multiple births where one of the children is the last child ranked within the school’s admission number. Pupils with an Individual Development Plan (ALN) that names the school must be admitted, dealt with by a separate procedure. Right of appeal: parents wishing to appeal must contact the school for an appeal form, to be returned within 10 working days of receipt of the decision letter; appeals heard by an independent appeal panel. Late applications accepted with good reason if received before offers are made. Unsuccessful applicants may be placed on a waiting list, maintained in oversubscription-criteria order (not order received), operating until the end of the academic year of application; inclusion does not guarantee a place. In-year applications admitted if places available; if oversubscribed, published oversubscription criteria apply; if no places, child added to waiting list, with right of appeal. Document notes: 'Amended, presented and approved by St Francis R.C Primary School Governing Body' (as printed, though document otherwise concerns St John Lloyd RC Primary School).
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
