When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: If there is an over-subscription in any category, places will be offered using a straight line distance measurement from home to school, measured using the Local Authority's computerised local mapping system (address point to address point, per Bury Council's LLPG). Where the final place can be taken by two or more children living an equal distance from the school, the Local Authority will use random allocation to decide which child is offered the place.
Late applications are dealt with after on-time applications. Where a child has parents with shared responsibility living at each address part of the week, the home address is decided by which parent/carer receives Child Benefit. Twins/triplets are treated as a permitted exception to class size regulations when only one place is available. 1st, 2nd and 3rd preferences are considered equally by Bury Council.
