was the furthest place offered on offer day for 2023-24 (Reception). That is how far the last place reached in ONE year — not a boundary, and not a guarantee. It moves with the number of applicants, so treat it as a guide rather than a line on a map.
Last distance offered at Hollins Grundy Primary School, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: If there is over-subscription in any category, places will be offered using a straight line distance measurement from home to school. The distance will be measured using the Local Authority’s computerised mapping system... Where the final place in a year group can be taken by two or more children living an equal distance from the school, the Local Authority will then use random allocation to decide which of the children can be offered a place.
Local-authority coordinated default oversubscription criteria for Bury Council's community and voluntary-controlled schools (the council is the admission authority). Document applies to community and voluntary controlled primary schools and academies in Bury for September 2026 entry.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
