was the furthest place offered on offer day for 2025-26 (Year 7). That is how far the last place reached in ONE year — not a boundary, and not a guarantee. It moves with the number of applicants, so treat it as a guide rather than a line on a map.
Last distance offered at Carlton Bolling, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Where demand for places exceeds supply at any point of the oversubscription criteria, places will be allocated at random. All applicants will be randomly provided a number ranging from 1 up to the total number of pupils making an application. The numbers will be ranked from lowest to highest, then students selected in each ability band in accordance with the proportion of applications received. The random allocation process will be supervised by an independent person non-affiliated with Carlton Bolling or the Trust.
LAC and PLAC are not required to sit the fair banding assessment. Children with an EHCP naming the school are also not required to sit the assessment. The number of places available for banded children is the PAN minus children with an EHCP naming the school together with LAC and PLAC. Criteria 3–9 are applied within each ability band for banded children. Non-banded children are ranked last and considered only after all banded children.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
