When there are more applications than places for 2025-26 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: If in any category there are more applications than places available, priority will be given on the basis of proximity to the school. This will be calculated (by using a straight line) using the LA computerised measuring system from the front door of the child's address (including flats) to the main entrance of the school. In the event of distances being the same for two or more applicants and where this distance would be last place/s to be allocated, a random lottery will be carried out in a public place and the required number of names will be drawn out.
EHCPs are not mentioned in this document. The document notes that exceptional needs (criterion 2) will occur very rarely and a written application in advance of the normal admissions timetable is strongly recommended. 'Sibling' is defined as full, half or step brothers and sisters, adopted and foster brothers and sisters living at the same address and part of the same family unit.
