When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Each criterion operates separately; within each criterion applicants are ranked by the shortest distance from the home address to a point on the school site or an agreed nodal point. Where children have an equal right to admission, the tie break is straight-line distance measured by the council’s computerised measuring system, with those living closer receiving higher priority.
Read 2026-09-12 from Bedford Borough Council's determined admission arrangements for 2027. The council publishes a standard policy naming 11 community and voluntary controlled schools and a separate additions policy naming Renhold and Scott, which adds a children-of-staff criterion.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
