When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 3), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after children and previously looked after children — ‘Looked after children’ and children who were adopted (or subject to child arrangements orders or special guardianship orders) immediately following having been ‘looked after’, as well as those children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted (see Note 1).
2. 2Attendance at linked infant school — Children who, when the applications are processed, attend the linked infant school.
3. 3Exceptional medical/social need — Children who the Director of School Access & Skills accepts as having an exceptional medical, social or other need which the school is particularly able to meet (see Note 2).
4. 4In defined area, without a school place due to move — Children who live within the individual school’s defined area and who are without a school place because they have moved.
5. 5Sibling link — Children who, at the time of admission, have a sibling living at the same address who already attends the main school, or the linked main school in the case of separate infant and junior schools. Siblings will include half, step, adoptive and foster siblings provided they also live at the same address as the applicant.
6. 6Children of staff — Children of teaching staff of the school where the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made and will be in employment as a teacher at the school when the child starts school.
7. 7Defined area, distance priority — Children living within the individual school’s defined area, with priority given to those who live closest to the school when measuring distance in a straight line (See Note 3).
8. 8Outside defined area, distance priority — Children living outside the individual school’s defined area, with priority given to those who live closest to the school when measuring distance in a straight line (See Note 3).

If two applications tie: Distance will be used as a tie-breaker within each category. Final Tie Breaker: Applicants from the same block of flats, or applicants who live the same distance from the school will be selected in random order using Barnet’s computerised system and places will be offered accordingly.
