Fulford School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after / previously looked after children — Pupils who are either currently or have previously been 'looked after'. This applies to all children who are currently or have previously been, in the care of a local authority; all children who have been adopted from local authority care, subject to an adoption, residence or special guardianship order; and all children who appear to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of adoption, residence or special guardianship order.
2. 2Catchment with sibling — Pupils who live within the catchment area normally served by the preferred school, with a sibling at the preferred school at the time of admission.
3. 3Catchment area — Pupils who live within the catchment area normally served by the preferred school.
4. 4Exceptional social or medical needs — Pupils considered by the admission authority to have exceptional social or medical needs which makes the preferred school the most suitable school for the pupil.
5. 5Sibling at preferred school — Pupils with a sibling at the preferred school at the time of admission.
6. 6Children of staff — Children of staff at Fulford School. Priority given where children of current Fulford School staff employed at least two years at time of application, or children of staff recruited to fill a demonstrable staff shortage. Maximum of 10 places.
7. 7Linked primary schools — Children who attend a Primary School linked to Fulford School: Archbishop's of York CE Junior School, Dunnington CE Primary School, Elvington CE Primary School, Escrick CE Primary School (NYCC school), Fishergate Primary School, Lord Deramore's Primary School, Naburn CE Primary School, St Oswald's CE Primary School, Wheldrake with Thorganby CE Primary School.
8. 8Pupil Premium/Service Pupil Premium eligible, distance order — Other applications for whom no previous criteria applies where a pupil is eligible for Pupil Premium or Service Pupil Premium, ordered from closest to furthest from school using the nearest available safe walking route.
9. 9Other applications, distance order — Other applications for whom no previous criteria applies where a pupil is not eligible for Pupil Premium or Service Pupil Premium, ordered from closest to furthest from school.

If two applications tie: first, to the pupil(s) who also fulfil the next highest priority; second, to the pupil(s) living closest to the school as defined in priority 8; and third, if the measurement of the distance from home to school above does not distinguish between two or more applicants with equal priority, random allocation will be used as the final tie-breaker, and independently verified.

Children of staff criterion limited to a maximum of 10 places. Priority 8 distinguishes Pupil Premium/Service Pupil Premium eligible pupils above priority 9 non-eligible pupils within the residual distance criteria.
