Bohunt School Wokingham

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after / previously looked after children — Looked after children and previously looked after children, supported by confirmation from the home local authority that the child is (or was, immediately prior to an adoption/child arrangements/special guardianship order) looked after.
2. 2Exceptional medical and social need — Children or families with an exceptional medical and social need, supported by written independent professional evidence (e.g. doctor/consultant for medical needs; social worker, health visitor, housing officer, police or probation officer for social needs) specific to the school, submitted at the time of application, confirming why the needs can only be met at this school.
3. 3Children of staff — Children of school staff where the member of staff meets the staff definition (employed continuously for two years at time of application as natural parent/legal guardian/resident step-parent, or recruited for a post with a demonstrable skills shortage).
4. 4Sibling on roll — Children who at the time of application have a sibling on the roll of the school and who will still be on roll at the time of the sibling's admission. Priority is not given for siblings who are former pupils of the school (or who left during or at the end of academic year 2026/27).
5. 5Children living in catchment — Children whose permanent home address is inside the School's designated catchment area and who live closest to the school, distance measured from the Ordnance Survey home address point to the school address point using GIS.
6. 6Children living outside the catchment area — In order of priority: (i) children eligible for the Service Premium (children of people in the Armed Services per S14 of the Education Act 2002); then (ii) children who live closest to the school, based on distance measured from the Ordnance Survey home address point to the school using GIS.

If two applications tie: When two or more applicants are equidistant, random allocation is used to allocate a place, carried out by the Local Authority coordinating the admissions process.

Children with an EHCP naming the school are admitted first (where possible within the PAN); not itself a numbered oversubscription criterion. Where a twin or child from a multiple birth is offered the last place within the PAN, any further twin/multiple-birth sibling is also offered a place if logistically possible, even above PAN; if not logistically possible, the place is determined by drawing lots and the remaining sibling(s) placed at the top of the waiting list (after any looked after/previously looked after child). Admission authority is the Bohunt Education Trust (Board of Trustees), which delegates day-to-day operation to the school. The policy document's introduction separately notes that Steyning Grammar School (a different school within the same Trust) is a voluntary controlled Church of England school, but this does not apply to Bohunt Wokingham School's own oversubscription criteria, which contain no faith criterion.
