Hoylake Holy Trinity CofE Primary School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Children in care and previously in care — Children in care, and children who were in care but have been adopted or are subject to a residency order or special guardianship order (“previously in care”), including those children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted
2. 2In-zone siblings — Then children who live in the school’s catchment zone in the following priority order:
3. 3Children living in the catchment zone, nearest first — Children who already have older brothers or sisters (including half or step siblings living in the same household) at the school when they are due to start school. If there are more children with older brothers or sisters at the school than there are places available, we will give priority to children with the youngest brothers or sisters at the school. We will also treat a brother or sister at a corresponding junior school as a sibling. Where there is more than one applicant with a sibling in the same year group, priority will be given to those children who live nearest to the school. We measure distances from the child’s home to the school gate nearest to the child’s home using the shortest road route, unless it is possible to use a footpath which we consider to be a safe walking route, using the Council’s computerised routing system.
4. 4Out-of-zone siblings — Children who already have older brothers or sisters (including half or step- brothers and sisters living in the same household) at the school when they are due to start school. If there are more children with older brothers or sisters at the school than there are places available, we will give priority to children with 6 the youngest brothers or sisters at the school. We will also treat a brother or sister at a corresponding junior school as a sibling. Where there is more than one applicant with a sibling in the same year group, priority will be given to those children who live nearest to the school. We measure distances from home to the school gate nearest to the child’s home using the shortest road route, unless it is possible to use a footpath which we consider to be a safe walking route, using the Council’s computerised routing system.
5. 5Children living nearest to the school — Pupils who live nearest to the school. We measure distances from home to the school gate nearest to the child’s home using the shortest road route, unless it is possible to use a footpath which we consider to be a safe walking route, using the Council’s computerised routing system.

If two applications tie: Shortest ROAD route (or a safe walking footpath) from home to the nearest school gate, on the council's computerised routing system - not a straight line.

Wirral has no separate determined 'admission arrangements' document: the community and voluntary controlled criteria are section 3.1 of the Final Scheme for the co-ordination of admission arrangements. Wirral PRIMARY admissions turn on the school's CATCHMENT ZONE: in-zone applicants (siblings then nearest) rank above every out-of-zone applicant. The zones are published only through the council's street-name lookup at ww3.wirral.gov.uk/catchment. The scheme also names 4 non-community school(s) it covers.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
