was the furthest place offered for 2026-27 (Year 7). The council's figures don't show whether anyone was refused, so it may not have been a cut-off.
Last distance offered at St Joseph's Catholic School, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Within each of the 8 categories above, priority is determined first by (i) attendance at a named Catholic partner primary school at the time of application (those who failed to gain a place at a partner school despite applying, per note 4, are included), then (ii) by having a brother or sister at the school at the time of enrolment, which places the application above those without a sibling within that category. Where children still have identical ranking: for categories 1, 2, 3 and 5, priority is by random allocation; for categories 4, 6, 7 and 8, priority is given to children living closest to the school by shortest straight-line distance (Ordnance Survey eastings and northings for home address and school); if distances are equal, priority is by random allocation. Random allocation numbers are supervised by a person independent of the school, with multiple-birth siblings kept together at the rank of the highest-ranked sibling.
Children with an Education, Health and Care Plan naming the school must be admitted and are dealt with by a separate procedure, reducing places available under these arrangements; not numbered within the 1-8 oversubscription criteria so not listed as a criterion. The governing body will, where logistically possible, admit twins and all siblings from multiple births where one child is the last ranked within the PAN. This document also includes an appended Supplementary Information Form and an In-Year Application Form, which are not part of the extracted criteria.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
