Distance did not decide places here
Every applicant who applied on time was offered a place for 2026-27 (Reception), so there was no cut-off distance. This changes from year to year; check the current year's figures before relying on it.
When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Where there are more applications than places remaining in any of the oversubscription categories, the order in which places will be allocated will be determined by the distance between the child's home address (as defined by this policy) and the School, with those living nearest receiving highest priority. Distance measurements will be undertaken using the Local Authority's computerised Geographical Information System [GIS] This measures a straight-line measure between the centre of the pupil's home address and the main entrance to the school building as determined by the LA in conjunction with the Headteacher at the time the determination was made.
This is a trust-wide policy covering multiple schools: Chetwynde School (3-16, capacity 525), Ormsgill Nursery and Primary School (3-11, capacity 245), Vickerstown School (3-11, capacity 210), Cambridge Primary School (2-11, capacity 245), South Walney Junior School (7-11, capacity 256), Newbarns Primary & Nursery School (3-11, capacity 459). Individual PANs are not stated. The policy notes priority is given to children eligible for the early years pupil premium in oversubscription criteria (section 9.1), though this is not reflected as a named criterion in section 10. The sibling criterion references Reception to Year 6 only, suggesting primary-phase application. Children in Year 6 of an all-through school's primary phase automatically transfer to Year 7 without applying.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
