was the furthest place offered on offer day for 2026-27 (Reception). That is how far the last place reached in ONE year — not a boundary, and not a guarantee. It moves with the number of applicants, so treat it as a guide rather than a line on a map.
Last distance offered at The Oaks Primary School & Nursery, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Where two or more applicants share the priority for a place, e.g. where two children live equidistant from the school, and where there is only one place remaining, the child to be allocated will be selected randomly by computer. This process will be supervised by someone independent of the school.
Published by West Sussex County Council in the Information for Parents Appendix 1 for entry in September 2026: the oversubscription criteria of every school that does not use the county's standard list for community and voluntary controlled schools. The council records that all applicants who requested this school for September 2025 were offered a place, so no cut-off distance exists for that year. Any child with an Education, Health and Care Plan that names the school will be admitted. The PAN will be reduced accordingly. Multiple births: both twins/multiples will be considered together as one application and the school will be allowed to go above its admission number for this purpose. Fair Access Protocol may result in admitting children above the PAN.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
