was the furthest place offered on offer day for 2026-27 (Year 7). That is how far the last place reached in ONE year — not a boundary, and not a guarantee. It moves with the number of applicants, so treat it as a guide rather than a line on a map.
Last distance offered at St Paul's Catholic College, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Priority will be given to children living closest to the school determined by the shortest distance. The tie-break used is a straight-line distance. All distances are measured by a straight line from the school to the child's home address, using Ordnance Survey data within the curtilage of the property. In the event of distances being the same for two or more children where this would determine the last place to be allocated, random allocation will be carried out and supervised by a person independent of the school. All the names will be entered into a hat and the required number of names will be drawn out.
Within each category, priority is further ordered by: (i) exceptional social, medical or pastoral need evidenced by appropriate professional; (ii) sibling at the school at time of enrolment; (iii) child of a member of staff employed for 2+ consecutive years or recruited to fill a demonstrable skill shortage vacancy. The admission authority will admit twins and all siblings from multiple births where one of the children is the last child ranked within the PAN.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
