was the furthest place offered on offer day for 2026-27 (Reception). That is how far the last place reached in ONE year — not a boundary, and not a guarantee. It moves with the number of applicants, so treat it as a guide rather than a line on a map.
Last distance offered at Hartwell Primary School, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Where there are more applications in any one category, applications will be prioritised on the distance from the child's home to the address point of the school, (priority being given to the children who live closer to the school). Distances are measured on a straight line basis from the address point of the child's home to the address point of the School, using a geographical information system. In the case where there are multiple applications from the same shared dwelling (e.g. Flats) or where there are two homes where the distance from the address point of the home to the address point of the school (using the system referred to above) is identical, random allocation, supervised by a suitable independent person, will be used to decide the priority in which applicants are selected in the event of a tiebreaker.
Education, Health and Care Plans: Governors will first offer places to children with an Education, Health and Care Plan which names the school as appropriate provision. Multiple births: Where the final place in any year group is offered to one of twins or other multiple births both twins would be admitted (or all siblings in the case of multiple births).
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
