was the furthest place offered on offer day for 2026-27 (Reception). That is how far the last place reached in ONE year — not a boundary, and not a guarantee. It moves with the number of applicants, so treat it as a guide rather than a line on a map.
Last distance offered at The Griffin Primary School, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: If in categories 1-9 above a tie-break is necessary to determine which child is admitted, the child living closest to the school will be given priority for admission. Distance is measured from the child’s home to the centroid of the school in a straight line. Where there is a further need to split any criterion places will be offered by random allocation using a computerised random number generator. Random allocation will not be applied to multiple birth siblings tied for the final place; all will be admitted, exceeding PAN if necessary.
After the admission of pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan naming the school, priority is given per the criteria listed. Children attending the on-site Nursery (The Little Griffin Nursery) are not guaranteed a place but are included in oversubscription criteria (criterion 6). CATCHMENT: The school’s catchment area is in an area to the north of Rugby, bounded to the east by the A426, to the north by the M6, to the west along the line of the Old Canal and to the south across to and along Brownsover Lane, as marked in red on the map below. Children living on the boundary line will be considered to be living within the catchment area. Transcribed from the school's own determined admission arrangements as published by Warwickshire County Council school admissions directory. Children with an EHCP naming the school are admitted first; that is a statutory duty, not an oversubscription criterion.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
