St Nicolas CofE Academy

When there are more applications than places for 2024-25 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after children — A 'looked after child' or a child who was previously looked after but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, child arrangements, or special guardianship order91 including those who appear [to the admission authority] to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.
2. 2Siblings living in priority area — A child is considered in this category if a sibling is attending the academy at the time of application and will continue to do so at the time of admission i.e. at the start of the new academic year, and where the child lives at the same address as the sibling and is living within the priority area of the academy. Priority is not given if the sibling attends a nursery unit linked to the academy.
3. 3Other children within priority area — Other children who live within the priority area of the academy
4. 4Children of permanent staff — A child who is the son/daughter of a member of staff (teaching and non-teaching) who has been employed at the academy for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the academy is made, and/or the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage, will also be given equal priority status to that of siblings of children already at the academy who live outside the priority area.
5. 5Siblings living outside priority area — A child is considered in this category if a sibling is attending the academy at the time of application and will continue to do so the time of admission i.e. at the start of the new academic year.
6. 6Faith related criteria — i. The child is, or one of their parents is, a regular worshipper at a Church, who worships twice a month (which may equally include weekday and Sunday acts of worship) for a minimum period of 2 years ii. The child is, or one of their parents is, a regular but not frequent worshipper at a Church, who worships once a month at either a weekday or Sunday act of worship or attends a church activity (such as a Church Parade Service) which includes an element of worship, for a minimum period of 2 years. iii. The child is, or one of their parents is, an occasional worshipper at a Church who worships more than twice a year at either a weekday or Sunday act of worship or attends a church activity (such as a Church Parade Service) which includes an element of worship, for a minimum period of 2 years.
7. 7Any other children — Any other children not categorised above

If two applications tie: Distance from home to academy, shorter distance given priority; if indistinguishable, drawing of names from a hat, independently overseen.

Children with an EHCP naming the academy are offered a place first, before oversubscription criteria apply. CATCHMENT: To the east of Higham Lane between St Nicolas Park Drive and Hinckley Road. All the houses on Hinckley Road. St Nicolas Park Estate to the south of St Nicolas Park Drive to Ullswater Avenue, Buttermere Avenue Including Keswick Close and Loweswater Close. Transcribed from the school's own determined admission arrangements as published by Warwickshire County Council school admissions directory. Children with an EHCP naming the school are admitted first; that is a statutory duty, not an oversubscription criterion. This document is a single trust/diocesan policy covering 19 schools; the criteria above are the ones it prints for this school.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
