The Cobbs Infant and Nursery School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after children and previously looked after children including those previously in state care outside of England.*
2. 2Siblings — Siblings (pupils with elder brothers or sisters already attending the preferred school and expected to continue at the school in the following school year. This includes full, half or stepbrothers and sisters and foster brothers and sisters who are living at the same address as part of the same family unit).
3. 3Children with proven medical needs which are directly relevant to the school concerned — Children with proven medical needs which are directly relevant to the school concerned. If you wish to be considered under this category you must provide appropriate supporting evidence at the time of your application from a doctor or other professional. This evidence must explain why the preferred school is the most suitable and what difficulties would be caused if the child had to attend another school.
4. 4Pupils living nearest to the school measured as a direct distance from the child’s permanent place of residence to the s — Pupils living nearest to the school measured as a direct distance from the child’s permanent place of residence to the school using a geographical information address point system. Distances will be measured in a straight line from the central point of the child’s permanent place of residence to the central point of the school. (Central points are as defined by the Warrington Local Land and Property Gazetteer and distances are based on the same system.) *A child in care is a child who is (a) in the care of a Local Authority, or (b) being provided with accommodation by a Local Authority in the exercise of their Social Services functions under section 22(1) of the Children Act 1989 at the time of making the application to the school. Previously looked after children are children who were looked after, but ceased to be so because they were adopted, (or became subject to a child arrangements order or special guardianship order). A child is regarded as having been in state care in a place outside of England if they were accommodated by a public authority, a religious organisation or any other provider of care whose sole purpose is to benefit society.

Warrington Borough Council is the admission authority for its community schools and determines one set of oversubscription criteria covering them all (2027-28). Separate infant and junior schools are treated as a single unit for the sibling criterion.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
