Coalbrookdale and Ironbridge CofE Primary Academy

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after and previously looked after children — Those children who are or were previously looked after children and all previously looked after children, including those children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted. Previously looked after children are children who were looked after but ceased to be so because they were adopted (or became subject to a child arrangements order or special guardianship order). All references to previously looked after children in this Code mean such children who were adopted (or subject to child arrangements orders or special guardianship orders) immediately following having been looked after and those children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.
2. 2Children living within the catchment area — Priority of admission will be given to children who live within the defined catchment area of the school. The catchment area covers the ecclesiastical parishes of Coalbrookdale, Ironbridge and Little Wenlock, and that part of the ecclesiastical parish of Benthall which lies within the Borough of Telford & Wrekin. If there are more applications than available places from children living within the catchment area, the following oversubscription criteria will apply in order:
3. 3In-catchment children with an older sibling at the school — Children living in the catchment area who will have an older sibling at the school on the day when the new intake begins.
4. 4In-catchment local church regular worshippers — Those who are at the heart of Ironbridge, Coalbrookdale or Little Wenlock Churches (regular members of the congregation).
5. 5In-catchment regular worshippers at Christian church elsewhere — Those who are at the heart of a Christian Church elsewhere (regular members of the congregation). One which adheres to the doctrine of the Trinity to define "Christian" denomination.
6. 6Children of staff — Children of staff – children whose parent is a member of staff who has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time of application or has been recruited to fill a vacancy for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage, who have been employed for two or more years.
7. 7Other children living within the catchment area — After that, priority will be given to other children who live within the catchment area.
8. 8Children living outside the catchment area — Children who live outside the catchment area will then be prioritised.

If two applications tie: In the event that two applications are exactly the same after all other criteria have been taken into account a tie breaker will be used. This will be by random allocation and overseen by an independent party not connected with the admissions process.

Children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs or Education and Health Care Plan naming the school will be allocated places before oversubscription criteria are applied. Each category is rank ordered by straight-line distance from home to school. Sibling defined as brother/sister, step/half-sibling, adopted siblings living at same address as part of same family unit, of compulsory school age; older sibling must be attending on start date. Cousins/relatives establishing an address to gain catchment priority excluded. Multiple births (twins etc.) admitted even if PAN of 30 exceeded. CATCHMENT: The catchment area covers the ecclesiastical parishes of Coalbrookdale, Ironbridge and Little Wenlock, and that part of the ecclesiastical parish of Benthall which lies within the Borough of Telford & Wrekin. Transcribed from the school's own determined admission arrangements as published by Telford & Wrekin Council determined admission arrangements. Children with an EHCP naming the school are admitted first; that is a statutory duty, not an oversubscription criterion.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
