When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
All governing bodies must admit a child with an Education, Health and Care Plan that names the school; that is not an oversubscription criterion. Where a school is oversubscribed with in-zone applications, places are allocated to children living in the admission zone by straight-line distance from the school. The council measures distance with its Geographic Information System from the central point of the school to the central point of the home, both taken from the council-maintained Local Land and Property Gazetteer. For primary schools, attendance at a school nursery does not guarantee a reception place. Transcribed verbatim from Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's determined Admission policy for 2027.
