When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (P1), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Where it is not possible to accommodate all requests and 2 or more applications have equal criteria the final allocation will be by the distance from the child's ordinary residence to the requested school, the nearest getting priority. Distance is measured by the shortest available route and not the shortest distance geographically.
Stirling Council does not provide home-to-school transport for placing requests. Placing requests from outwith Scotland are considered only with proof of imminent residency in Scotland. A child who moves outwith the catchment of the school they attend needs a placing request to continue. Special-school placements go through the GIRFEC Resource Group and the ASN Service Manager; independent or grant-aided placements through the Resource Allocation Group and the Chief Education Officer.
