St Modwen's Catholic Primary School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Baptised Catholic looked after/previously looked after children — Baptised Catholic children (see Note 2 below) who are looked after or previously looked after (See Note 3 below).
2. 2Baptised Catholic in parish with sibling at school — Baptised Catholic children (see Note 2 below) living in the parish of SS Mary and Modwen who have a brother or sister (see Note 4 below) attending St Modwen’s Catholic Primary School at the time of admission.
3. 3Baptised Catholic children living in the parish — Baptised Catholic children (see Note 2 below) living in the parish of SS Mary and Modwen
4. 4Other Baptised Catholic children with sibling at school — Other Baptised Catholic children (see Note 2 below) who have a brother or sister (see Note 4 below) attending St Modwen’s Catholic Primary School at the time of admission.
5. 5Other Baptised Catholic children — Other Baptised Catholic children (see note 2 below).
6. 6Non-Catholic looked after/previously looked after children — Non-Catholic children who are looked after or previously looked after (See Note 3 below).
7. 7Non-Catholic children with sibling at school — Non-Catholic children who have a brother or sister (see Note 4 below) attending St Modwen’s Catholic Primary School at the time of admission.
8. 8Non-Catholic children — Non-Catholic children.

If two applications tie: If there is oversubscription within a category, the Governing Body will give priority to children living closest to the school determined by the shortest distance (see Note 5). Where distances are equal, a computerised random selection system is used.

Note 1: Children with an Education, Health and Care Plan naming the school must be admitted; this is dealt with by a separate procedure prior to allocation under these arrangements and reduces the number of places available to other children.
