When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked After Children — A 'looked after child' is a child who is (a) in the care of a Local Authority, or (b) being provided with accommodation by a Local Authority in the exercise of their social services functions, in England. or A 'previously looked after child' is a child who was looked after (in England), but ceased to be so because they were adopted, or became subject to a child arrangements or special guardianship order, as well as a child who appears to the Trust Board to have been in state care outside of England care (i.e. in the care of or accommodated by a public authority, religious organisation or any other provider whose sole/main purpose is to benefit society), but ceased to be so as a result of being adopted.
2. 2Catchment area children with sibling at the academy — Children living within the designated Ansford Academy catchment area (see section 5) who will have sibling(s) attending the academy at the time of admission, who lives at the same home address (see section 14)
3. 3Catchment area children — Children living within the designated Ansford Academy catchment area (see section 5)
4. 4Partner primary school children — Children who attend one of the Academy's partner primary phase schools in Year 6 by the application closing date (see section 6.0)
5. 5Out-of-catchment children with sibling at the academy — Children living outside the designated Ansford Academy catchment area who will have sibling(s) attending the academy at the time of admission (see section 14)
6. 6Children of permanent staff — Children of permanent staff who have been either: Employed at the Academy for at least 2 years before the date of the application b) Recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage
7. 7Children outside catchment area nearest the school — Children outside the catchment area, but nearest the school by straight line measurement

If two applications tie: The ranked order for applications satisfying the 'cut off' criterion will be determined by calculating the straight-line distance between the address point of the child's home address to the address point of the school. If the distance between two children's homes and the school is exactly the same then a random allocation would be used.
