When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: a) The child living closest to the school is given priority for admission (straight-line GIS distance from the school site to the pupil's home). b) Where two or more children's homes are equidistant, random allocation by drawing lots, supervised by someone independent of the school, decides priority. c) If children of multiple births (twins/triplets) are tied for the final place, those siblings are admitted over the PAN. Where the admission number is reached part-way through a criterion, the ranked order for that 'cut-off' criterion and any lower-placed criterion is determined by straight-line distance.
This document is the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership's combined admissions arrangements, covering multiple named schools (Ansford Academy, Bucklers Mead Academy, Frome College, Hemington Primary School, Leigh-on-Mendip School, Oakfield Academy, Preston Secondary School, Trinity First School, St Dunstan's Secondary School, plus links to separately-published Pyrland School and Selwood Academy policies) - only Bucklers Mead Academy's own criteria are reported here. In the source, Bucklers Mead's 5 oversubscription criteria are numbered 9-13 (continuing a running count from the preceding school, Ansford Academy, in the same document) rather than restarting at 1; they are reported here as ranks 1-5, reflecting Bucklers Mead's own priority order, without altering their content or sequence. Children with an EHCP naming the school are admitted before other places are allocated (stated at Trust level, not itself one of the 5 numbered criteria for this school). The Local Governing Body reserves the right to admit over the published number where this would not be detrimental to students' learning. The admission limit for all other (non-entry) year groups is also 204.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
