How places are decided at Corvedale CofE Primary School

When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1Looked after and previously looked after children — Looked after children and previously looked after children who have since been adopted, or became subject to a child arrangements order or special guardianship order, including those children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.

This will only be considered if parents can provide written medical evidence that Corvedale CE VA Primary School is essential to the medical well-being of their child. In such cases priority may be given above those children who qualify under priorities 2 – 8.

If two applications tie: In the event that two individual applications are exactly the same after all other criteria have been taken into account a tie breaker will be used. This will be by random allocation and overseen by an independent party not connected with the admissions process.

The policy references priorities 2–8 in criterion 6, but only 5 oversubscription criteria (ranks 2–6) are listed; this appears to be a drafting inconsistency. Sibling defined as brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister, half-brother, half-sister living at same address as part of same family unit, including adopted and fostered siblings. Distances measured as straight line on computerised mapping system.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
