Distance did not decide places here
Every applicant who applied on time was offered a place for 2026-27 (Reception), so there was no cut-off distance. This changes from year to year; check the current year's figures before relying on it.
How places were offered at St Mary Magdalen's Catholic Primary School, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
Summary of the school's oversubscription criteria for 2027/28 entry as printed by Achieving for Children in Richmond's schools brochure 2027 (the governing body/trust is responsible for the wording; read the full determined policy on the school's website). The following order of priorities will be applied when applications within any of the above categories exceed the places available and it is necessary to decide between applications. 1. A brother or sister on the school roll at the time of admission. Evidence of the relationship may be required. 2. Social, pastoral and medical needs which make the school particularly suitable for the child in question. Strong and relevant evidence must be provided, at the time of application, by an appropriate professional authority (eg, qualified medical practitioner, education welfare officer, social worker or priest). 3. Proximity to the school of the child’s home address, the distance measured using the shortest route by road or maintained footpath in metres as measured using the School Admissions’ computerised geographical information system (GIS) and data supplied by Ordnance Survey. Evidence of residence may be required. 4. The governors will, where logistically possible, admit twins and all siblings from multiple births where one of the children is the last child ranked within the school’s published admissions number. Where the last remaining place is to be allocated and two or more children are deemed to live at the same distance from the school the place will be decided by the drawing of lots. The supplementary form to apply for denominational priority is available on the school website.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
