Our Lady's R.C. Primary School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after children (Catholic faith) — Looked after children (children in public care) of the Catholic faith.
2. 2Looked after children — Looked after children (children in public care).
3. 3Baptised Catholic children in named parishes — The baptised children of Catholic parents living in the parishes of Mary Immaculate, Mountain Ash, and St Thomas, Abercynon.
4. 4Baptised children of practising Catholics in adjoining parishes — The baptised children of practising Catholic parents living in parishes adjoining the above parishes, with the permission of their parish priest.
5. 5Siblings — Siblings of children already in the school, eg full, half, step brothers and sisters, adopted and fostered children.
6. 6Other baptised Christian denominations and siblings — Other baptised Christian denominations and siblings who are already attending the school.

If two applications tie: If the governors are unable to admit all applicants within a particular category, priority will be given to those residing closest to the school as measured by the safest walking route from the front door of the child's residence to the main school gate. The child's birth certificate is required to verify the date of birth.

Parents may register their requirement for a child to attend the school; the information will be maintained on a waiting list until the child is eligible for admission — this will not give an automatic entitlement to a place. The school is part of the co-ordinated admissions arrangements with RCT and there is a requirement that applicants complete the LA online Portal for Reception and Yr 7 places for September 2027, in addition to the school's own application form as part of the process of applying for a place. Failure to complete both forms within the set timeframe will result in a place not being offered. Mid term applications will be considered only if places are available, in such cases the admissions criteria as given above will apply or if the application(s) meet the Permissible Exceptions Criteria. Appeals against a decision not to admit should be addressed to: The Clerk of the School's Governing Body, Our Lady's Catholic Primary School, Miskin Road, Mountain Ash CF45 3UA. Arrangements will then be made for an independent panel to consider the appeal.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
