When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Places will be allocated based on the safest, shortest, practicable walking route to the school, in strict order of distance, up to the number of places available, with the highest priority being given to the pupil living closest to the school. The distance will be measured from the closest access point on the public highway to the pupil's ordinary place of residence which is nearest to the school and measured to the nearest school gate. MapInfo Geographical Information System is used to measure all distances.
NOTE THE ORDER — Powys ranks a sibling WITHIN the catchment area ABOVE catchment residence alone. Siblings who join a secondary school for sixth form only (Years 12 and 13), or who attend a sixth form on a dual basis under a collaboration arrangement, do NOT count as a sibling at the school. Ordinary place of residence is the residence of the parent/carer who receives Child Benefit for the pupil; the child must reside and sleep there for the majority of the week.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
Same phase, ranked by distance and how closely they match.
