When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: In the case of a tie, places will be offered to pupils living nearest to the school, measured by the shortest walking distance from the nearest available school gate to the point where the pupil's private dwelling meets the public highway. Where preferences exceed places available, priority is given under each oversubscription category to multiple birth siblings; if the last child to be admitted up to the admission number is one of a multiple birth, the Authority will also admit the other sibling(s).
AN UNUSUAL TIE-BREAK WITHIN THE SIBLING CATEGORIES (4 and 7): after multiple births, priority goes to the pupils CLOSEST IN AGE to the sibling already at the school — a pupil with a sibling in Year 3 ranks above one with a sibling in Year 6, and for secondary a sibling in Year 9 ranks above a sibling in Year 11. In a 3-16 or 3-19 school, a pupil with a sibling in a SEPARATE PHASE does not meet criteria 4 or 7, because the school has separate admission numbers for its primary and secondary phases. A sibling is a full, half or step brother or sister, or adopted or foster children, living in the same household at the time of admission. Where a statement of SEN or an IDP names a particular school this must be stated clearly on the application form; such applications are dealt with separately and BEFORE the oversubscription criteria are applied. Note also that admission to secondary school is based on whether the HOME ADDRESS is in the secondary school's catchment area, not on the primary school attended.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
