Quarrydale Academy

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Highest priority will be given to looked after children and all previously looked after children who apply for a place at the academy. The 2021 Code requires children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted to be given equal first priority in admission arrangements, alongside looked after children (LAC) and children who were previously looked after by English local authorities (PLAC). This advice refers to these children as internationally adopted previously looked after children – “IAPLAC”
2. 2Children who live in the catchment area and who, at the time of admission, will have a brother or sister attending the Academy.
3. 3Other children who live in the catchment area.
4. 4Children who live outside the catchment area, but who are attending a linked primary phase school (see list at the end) on the closing date for secondary applications (31 October) and who will have a brother or sister at Quarrydale Academy at the time of admission.
5. 5Children who live outside the catchment area and who, at the time of admission, will have a brother or sister attending Quarrydale Academy.
6. 6Children who live outside the catchment area but who are attending a linked primary phase school on the closing date for secondary applications (31 October).
7. 7Children of staff who work for Quarrydale Academy in either of the following circumstances: a. The member of staff has been employed by the Academy for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, or b. the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
8. 8Other children who live outside the catchment area.
