Distance did not decide places here
Every applicant who applied on time was offered a place for 2026-27 (Reception), so there was no cut-off distance. This changes from year to year; check the current year's figures before relying on it.
Last distance offered at Lake View Primary and Nursery School, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: In the event of the need for a tie breaker in any of the over-subscription criteria listed in this policy, random allocation will be used. In these circumstances, if a child is offered a place as a result of random allocation yet also has a sibling of the same age seeking a place and residing at the same address, the sibling will also be offered a place. This process will be supervised by someone independent of the school.
Special circumstances (medical/social needs supported by written professional evidence) take precedence over all criteria except criterion 1 (looked after children). Distance measured 'as the crow flies' from the entrance of the child's home to the principal entrance of the main administrative building is used as the determining factor within oversubscribed categories. Where one child of a multiple birth can be admitted, the other child/children will also be admitted.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
