was the furthest place offered on offer day for 2025-26 (Reception). That is how far the last place reached in ONE year — not a boundary, and not a guarantee. It moves with the number of applicants, so treat it as a guide rather than a line on a map.
Last distance offered at New York Primary School, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
Children with an Education, Health and Care Plan naming the school are admitted first under the Education Act 1996; the criteria above then decide oversubscription. The distance measurement is also the tie-breaker within each criterion; where two flats measure the same the lower flat number is offered the place, and in all other ties the place is decided by random allocation. Every community and Learning Trust school in North Tyneside has a defined geographic catchment area. All community first and primary schools operate an equal preference system. Transcribed verbatim from North Tyneside Council's Determined Community First and Primary Admissions Policy 2027.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
