Battle Hill Primary School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after and previously looked after children — Looked after children in the care of a local authority or a child who was previously looked after but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, child arrangements (formerly residence) or special guardianship order, including those children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted. See Note 1 below.
2. 2Residence in the school's catchment area — Pupils who live within the catchment area of the school (pupils in this category with a sibling link (an older brother or sister) who will be attending the school in September 2026 will be given priority).
3. 3Sibling link — Pupils with a sibling link (an older brother or sister) to include adoptive siblings, half siblings, step siblings and long term fostered children residing at the same address and who will be attending the school in September 2027.
4. 4Distance from the school — Any remaining places are allocated to pupils living nearest to the school as measured in a straight line from a single fixed point of the home address (including flats) to a single fixed point of the school using the Local Land and Property Gazetteer and the Council’s Geographical Information System (GIS) system. N.B The above distance measurement will also be used as a ‘tiebreaker’

Children with an Education, Health and Care Plan naming the school are admitted first under the Education Act 1996; the criteria above then decide oversubscription. The distance measurement is also the tie-breaker within each criterion; where two flats measure the same the lower flat number is offered the place, and in all other ties the place is decided by random allocation. North Tyneside Council states that every community and Learning Trust school has a defined geographic catchment area. Transcribed verbatim from the determined Learning Trust Schools and Academy Trust First and Primary Schools Admissions Policy September 2027, the trust-wide policy that names this school in its own published admission number schedule.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
