When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 9), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: In the case of a tie in any of the above oversubscription criteria, priority will be given to children living nearest to the Academy as measured in a straight-line distance ('as the crow flies') from a single fixed point at the Academy to fixed point on the home of the child. If the distance tie-break is not sufficient to distinguish between applicants in a particular priority group, random allocation will take place to determine priority.
This is a joint admissions policy for three academies (Gosforth Academy, Jesmond Park Academy, Callerton Academy) under Gosforth Group, sharing the same ordered oversubscription criteria but with different PANs: Callerton Year 7 - 240, Jesmond Park Year 7 - 310, Gosforth Year 9 - 360. Feeder schools differ by academy as listed. If a student has an EHCP naming the Academy, a place will be offered before oversubscription criteria are applied.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
