was the furthest place offered on offer day for 2026-27 (Reception). That is how far the last place reached in ONE year — not a boundary, and not a guarantee. It moves with the number of applicants, so treat it as a guide rather than a line on a map.
Last distance offered at Someries Infant School and Early Childhood Education Centre, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: The admissions criteria will be applied separately and sequentially until all places are filled. If the school is unable to agree a place for all applicants meeting a specific criterion, the distance criterion (criterion 6) will be used as a tiebreaker. In the event of (a) two or more children living at the same address point (for example, children resident in a block of flats) or (b) two addresses measuring the same distance from the school, the ultimate tie-breaker will be random selection, witnessed by a Luton Council officer, independent of Luton Council's Admissions Team.
In accordance with the Education Act 1996, children with an Education, Health and Care plan are required to be admitted to the school named in their plan before these listed priorities apply.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
