Distance depends on the band here
The Belvedere Academy admits by banding: applicants are placed into bands and each band is filled separately, so there is no single last-offer distance. Each band has its own, and which one applies depends on your child's assessment — so one number could not answer this for every child.
How the bands work: All remaining places (after Music aptitude, distance, and other priority criteria) will be allocated on the basis of fair banding using a non-verbal reasoning assessment. Five equal bands each comprising 20% of places. If the number of banding places is not a multiple of five: remainder of 1 allocated to Band 3; remainder of 2 to Bands 2 and 4; remainder of 3 to Bands 2, 3 and 4; remainder of 4 to Bands 1, 2, 4 and 5. Within each band, oversubscription resolved by random allocation.
Your local authority’s admissions booklet publishes the cut-off for each band. The full ranked criteria are on the Admissions tab.
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Within fair banding bands: random allocation witnessed by Chair (or representative) of Local Governing Body and a representative from Liverpool Local Authority Admissions department. For distance places: direct distance calculated by LA computerised mapping system; equal distance resolved by random allocation.
10% (18 places) reserved for Music aptitude allocated before banding. 25 places reserved for closest distance applicants allocated before banding. Siblings and staff children criteria apply within the banding framework. Late applicants who did not sit the banding test are considered after all banding test applicants. Girls-only academy.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
