St Margaret's Lee CofE Primary School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Children who are looked after or were previously looked after — See note 1. Children in the care of a local authority or provided with accommodation under s.22(1) Children Act 1989 at the time of application; previously looked after children adopted or subject to a child arrangements or special guardianship order; children who were in state care outside England and ceased to be so as a result of being adopted (IAPLAC) have equal first priority. Written confirmation required.
2. 2Children with an exceptional medical or social need for this particular school — See note 2. Must be supported by written evidence from a relevant professional at the time of application (e.g. specialist health professional, social worker or educational psychologist) including why St Margaret's is the most suitable school and the difficulties if the child attended another school.
3. 3Children who have siblings in the school at the time of entry — See note 3. A sibling is a blood or adoptive sibling, a half-sibling or a foster or step-sibling living at the same address as the child.
4. 4Children of staff — See note 4. Only where the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time the application is made, and/or was recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
5. 5Parent's attendance at a church service, in the order: (a) at St Margaret's Church, Lee, wherever the applicant lives; (b) at another Anglican church, the applicant living within the school's wider area; (c) at a Christian church which is a member of Churches Together in England, the Evangelical Alliance or Affinity Churches, the applicant living within the inner area — See note 5. Attendance must be best described as at least fortnightly for at least two years to the last day of December in the year preceding the closing date (for 2027/28, 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2026), certified by clergy on the supplementary information form. Commitment is on the basis of one parent and cannot be shared. If fewer than 20 places are allocated under criteria 1-4, the maximum available under criterion 5 is 10 places.
6. 6Other children in order of nearness of the child's home to the school — See note 6. Straight line using digitised mapping software from the home to a single nodal point in the premises.

If two applications tie: Priority to children living nearest the school (straight line, digitised mapping software, home to a single nodal point in the premises; in multi-occupancy buildings priority to the lowest door number numerically and/or alphabetically). If two or more applicants live the same distance away, places are allocated by drawing lots in the presence of an external monitor.

Single-form entry, one class of 30 per year group; the criteria apply when more than 30 applications are received. Places under criterion 5 are capped at 10 if fewer than 20 places are allocated under criteria 1-4 (note 5 restates this with different criterion numbers, 1-3 and 4/5). Defined inner and wider areas are described by street boundaries in note 6, with maps on the school website; children living beyond the wider area will not normally gain a place unless applying under siblings or St Margaret's Lee Church worship. All qualifying multiple-birth siblings admitted if one qualifies for the last place. Closing date 15 January 2027. Waiting list held one year, renewable each June.
