When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Places will be allocated based on distance from our Academy (straight-line distance). If two or more children live exactly the same distance from our Academy (i.e. in a block of flats) and there are not enough places for both, we will draw lots. This will be witnessed by an independent person. We will not draw lots for twins or other multiple birth siblings from the same family; where they are tied for the final place, we will admit them all, exceeding the Published Admissions Number.
Children with Woodkirk Academy named on their Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan will be given a place in our Academy, prior to the oversubscription criteria. The External Pupil Admission Number for external Sixth Form applicants is set at 100. Staff priority (rank 4) requires the member of staff to have been employed at Woodkirk Academy for two or more years at the time of application and live at the same address as the child applying, OR have been recruited to fill a post where there is a demonstrable skills shortage.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
Same phase, ranked by distance and how closely they match.
