Distance depends on the band here
Hull Trinity House Academy admits by banding: applicants are placed into bands and each band is filled separately, so there is no single last-offer distance. Each band has its own, and which one applies depends on your child's assessment — so one number could not answer this for every child.
How the bands work: All applicants will be invited to sit the Cognitive Ability Tests (CATs) provided by GL Assessment. The average of these will allow 4 ability bands to be created and, as near as possible, 25% of the applicants to be placed in each one of the four ability bands. Each zone will be allocated 25% of the available places, and within each ability band, ¼ of the places offered to each zone will be from each of the 4 ability bands.
Your local authority’s admissions booklet publishes the cut-off for each band. The full ranked criteria are on the Admissions tab.
When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: The geographical criterion will be used as a tie-breaker for other criteria. Where a school is oversubscribed from within its catchment area after the allocation of statemented/EHCP, looked after children, and siblings then Criteria 1 and 2 geographical criteria will be used in that order as tie-breakers.
Applicants are first grouped into 4 geographical zones (25% of places each) and 4 ability bands (based on CAT scores, 25% of places each) before the ranked criteria above are applied within each zone/band combination. Children with an EHCP naming the school are admitted first (not numbered as a criterion). Late applications (after 31 October) are processed after on-time applications regardless of other criteria.
